Åshiro is a café concept in Okinawa, Japan opening fall/winter 2025. Åshiro focuses on combining Okinawa and Norway trough Norwegian waffles and a

fantastic panoramic view of the sea and island of Okinawa. The visual identity aims to reflect Åshiro’s connection to both Norway and Okinawa, as well as being welcoming and family friendly.

Logo

Åshiro´s logo depicts the Norwegian letter “Å” where the circle is inspired by the symbol of the Okinawa flag. The shape is soft, friendly and gives a welcoming expression.

The name of the cafe, “Åshiro café & view” is written with an elegant serif that creates a nice contrast to the soft logo shape. Below the text “Åshiro café & view” is the name “Åshiro” written in the Japanese script, katakana, to make it more accessible to Japanese guests.
